It's Been Too Long

Geez, I've been A-Wall for a while, but I have good reasons. First, let me say that I did the 1/2 marathon on Valentine's Day, and it was awesome. I finished in just under 3 hours, and I was happy with that. Now I want to do another one, which is coming in May.

On a personal note, I've been sort of seeing someone. It kind of blind-sighted me, as it always seems to, and it's been fun having something to look forward to these days. I am such a dork, I cannot figure out what this guy sees in me, but I'll take it anyway!

Oh, and I've also been pretty sick for the past 5 days so this has been the first day all week I've even gotten onto my computer. And the guy mentioned above brought me some of the best meds to help me get better. I know, sweet wasn't it?

Week 2-3 - Weigh-in

Well, today I weighed in, and I'm still at the same weight I was on the first weigh-in. It is true what they say about the 2nd week curse, I actually gained a couple during week 2, but now for week 3, I'm back on track.

The race is in 3 weeks, which freaks me out, so I know I can't mess up now because it will just mess me up for the race. That is actually a good little push for me. It is amazing to me, that when I eat well and workout, I really do feel so much better. Bad food makes me feel awful, sick, twice my actual size, and gross. The thought of sweets or tons of sugar grosses me out right now, so that's good. I don't think I'll have major cravings this weekend, which I did last weekend, and I ended up giving in to them wayyy too much.

I did 10 miles last Sat. so my plan is to do 11 today. Hmm... Yeah, but I think I can do it. I felt great after doing 10 miles so here's to hoping.

Exams are this upcoming week, thank goodness. The snow was awesome, but it totally screwed up our exam schedule for this week. So this semester is ALMOST over. :) It is so nice and reenergizing to end a semester and clean your classroom and desk, and then reorganize for the next semester. I actually enjoy that part of it. So hopefully, this week will be productive and cleansing.

Wacky Wednesday

Good grief, today was nuts. Any of you that teach high school will know how bad this was...so I get to school this am and another math teacher on my hall says, "Have you heard?" And I was thinking, "Oh, geez, now what?" So he goes into this story he heard on the RADIO about how our exam days have been moved up from next Tuesday to this Friday! Why do you ask? Some excuse about the inarguration (sp?) next Tuesday. I have no idea why that affected exams, but whatever. The principal makes an announcement a few minutes later saying that he read the same rumor in the PAPER this am and that he is going to the board to find out exactly what is going on and what our new schedule will be. So a few hours later he makes an announcement saying it's true and how we're just gonna have to deal. All day long, I, and all the other teachers, try to explain to each class what's gonna happen, and then at the end of the day (after we told all 3 classes), he gets back on the intercom to say that we are back to our original exam schedule. Apparently, lots of parents had called and complained about taking away the weekend to study, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, the point is, all day today, literally, NO ONE knew what was going on, not even the principal, which I must admit, was the one kinda funny part to all of this. Whew! That was my day today!

As soon as I got home today I hopped right on the treadmill. I knew after today I needed it. So I did 4.5 miles and ran 0.7 miles of that. My goal is to try 1.2 miles (running) this Saturday. My legs didn't hurt much at all today while I was running so I'm hoping that'll keep up as I increase it.

Oh, and class went well last night. I have several students that I taught in high school, which I was not expecting, but 2 seemed very happy to see me as their instructor because they both did well in my class before. This course should be challenging, but I like the fact that it's a lot higher level of a math. I like having to think sometime during my day!

Manic Monday

Well, let me start out by saying that yesterday blew. I was good on everything until after dinner, and I could not stop thinking about bad food. So needless to say I cheated badly, and I woke up sick this am. Duh, right? So today I did great, if I do say so myself. I ate well, and also did another 5 miles as soon as I got home from school. I ran another 0.7 miles so I'm slowly getting back up.

My College Alegbra class starts tomorrow night so I have to go and finalize the syllabus. I started some of the notes yesterday, but I know I need to do another section of notes before tomorrow night. I'm pretty sure I'll have to teach 2 or 3 sections a night since this class only meets once a week. But that's ok because I will have plenty of time for that and a classwork most nights, I figure. Anyway, I have some work to do! Gotta run!

Workout

This will be a short post, I just wanted to write on here that I worked out earlier today. I did a total of 7.5 miles, 0.8 miles of it I ran. I am beat! So I feel good now that the workout is out of the way today. Gosh, that race is going to be here before I know it. I just want to finish it. I don't care much about my time, though I'm shooting for 3 hours, but my biggest goal is to finish in the 4 hours allotted. More later...

Week 1 - Weigh-In

Oh, my gosh! I can't believe it. So I weighed this morning when I got up, and since I've not worked out this week like I planned, I was not expecting anything great. But somehow I lost 8 lbs. anyway! Yippy!

I guess the key was I only ate badly one night during the entire week. The reason I didn't workout a lot isn't a good one. I fell asleep on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights right after dinner. I had to go to some meetings at the college this week, and they messed up my workout schedule because I was supposed to workout when I had to go to those.

So anyway, now I'm a lot more motivated because now I'm actually going somewhere. I hope everyone else is doing well on their goals, too.

I found out Thursday that I will be teaching College Algebra at the college this semester, and I am totally stoked about that. I've been told I need that on my resume so a community college would hire me so I hope it works. The class will be on Tuesday nights so I might not be able to workout on Tuesdays. Anyway, wish me luck with that class. I can't wait! Yes, I'm a nerd, and I admit it.

Take care, everyone!

Week 1 Continues

Well, today was stressful, and I'm looking forward to the semester ending soon. You other high school teachers out there, feel free to agree with me on that one. But as soon as I got home today, I immediately changed clothes and worked out. I did 4.5 miles, but only 0.4 of it was running. Like I said before, I'm trying to work up slowly to prevent an injury before my race. I ate well today, and now I'm just wasting time on the Internet.

Hope everyone out there is having a great day!

Week 1

So today I walked 5 miles. I didn't run only to save my legs for tomorrow. My goal is to run every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Supposedly, that will prevent injuries so here's to hoping. I've eaten really well so far today, too.

School starts back tomorrow, and I am dreading that. Teenagers are the funniest creatures after breaks in school. You'd think that 2 weeks of Christmas Break is an eternity to them. They will hug every single person they know in between every single class tomorrow. It's so ridiculous. The good thing is exams will be in another 2 weeks so maybe that will help.

Well, more later!
